Job Summary:
The Maritime Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of maritime operations within the organization. This position requires a strong understanding of maritime security regulations, protocols, and industry best practices. The officer will be responsible for implementing security measures, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating security-related activities with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Implement and enforce maritime security protocols and procedures to maintain a secure operating environment.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments and develop appropriate mitigation strategies to minimize potential security threats.
3. Monitor and analyze security-related intelligence, including threat assessments and industry trends, to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.
4. Coordinate security activities with other departments, external agencies, and maritime security organizations to ensure a comprehensive security approach.
5. Conduct security audits to assess compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and security protocols.
6. Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the security awareness and preparedness of staff members.
7. Investigate security incidents, breaches, and suspicious activities, and provide timely and accurate reports to management.
8. Maintain and update security policies, procedures, and emergency response plans in accordance with industry guidelines and regulatory requirements.
9. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, port authorities, and international organizations to exchange information and enhance security measures.
10. Stay updated on relevant maritime security regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies to effectively address evolving security challenges.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Maritime Security, Transportation Management, or a related field.
2. Proven work experience in maritime security or a related field.
3. In-depth knowledge of maritime security regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
4. Familiarity with national and international maritime security frameworks, such as the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and respond to security threats effectively.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
8. Proficiency in using security-related technologies, including access control systems, surveillance equipment, and incident reporting software.
9. Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate security-related activities across multiple locations.
10. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of security standards.
